My car broke down earlier. I just spent $160 which was supposed to last me two weeks. I had to spend $20 on a set of jumper cables and another $140 on a car battery. I’m not sure what to do. I’ll be doing a commissions post ASAP but like. Any help would be great. Sorry.

first of all, the pet food industry is heavily regulated, both by the FDA and at the state level. standard, big-brand pet food is specifically formulated to be good for your pets, based on veterinary science and research. the food is designed to ensure your pet receives the appropriate balance of nutrients they need as domesticated, mostly indoor animals. fancier, more expensive/”premium” pet food (with human grade meat, for example) does not necessarily translate into your pet receiving the nutrients they need, and your pet really cannot tell the difference. not to mention, ‘human grade’ is a marketing term with no legal definition, and doesnt mean anything nutritionally.
secondly, using human grade meat for pet food is really environmentally taxing, and completely unnecessary. standard pet food is made up of “spare parts”, i.e. byproducts that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. since your pet does need a high protein/meat diet, the best way to feed your pet while minimizing your environmental footprint is to use every part of a slaughtered animal, even the parts we dont personally find appealing. putting your pet on a human grade meat diet ramps up our meat consumption, which is already high (there are estimates that if US pets formed their own nation, it would rank fifth in global meat consumption. cats and dogs make up ~30% of the environmental impact of meat consumption in the US).
in general, this is all a little silly. pet food companies are profiting off of you spending more on your pet food. its just marketing.
