There are many reasons to vote besides electing officials. You might also, say, still technically have slavery in your state constitution that needs to be abolished.
MMMMMHM. Wanna know whatâs worse? This is the second time in the last few years Colorado has voted on this because last time IT DIDNâT FUCKING PASS.
If you want to get really technical on it, this is a âthe language just never technically got removedâ sort of issue. But it is obviously still a huge fucking issue.
Really damn ashamed of my state on this one, honestly.
Itâs not just a technical language issue. This would affect prison labor- prison is where legal slave labor happens in the U.S. Thereâs a lot of corporate interests- private prisons, for one- who donât want this amendment to pass, because it would cut into their ability to profit from the labor of prisoners. Iâm no longer a Colorado voter since I moved to Montana, but if you live in Colorado, vote yes on amendment A!
Hey, Colorado! You have an opportunity few of us do: YOU CAN VOTE AGAINST SLAVERY! I mean, itâs horrifying that prison slavery is a thing, but how great is it that you get to go to the polls and say âno more slaveryâ? Show the country that you really do believe that slavery is bad!
Also hey we need to vote prison slavery out of existence NATION WIDE! Why? Because it is STILL LEGAL UNDER THE CONSTITUTION ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.
Time for more states to remove this prison exemption!
Particularly if you live in Texas, please vote, just for the schadenfreude. Can you even imagine if Texas goes blue. Can you even imagine Ted Cruz losing. Iâm getting giddy just thinking about the conservative meltdown. There is literally zero path to the Presidency for Republicans that doesnât include Texas. If they have to sweat bullets for the next forever thinking that Texas might be a left-leaning state⌠guys, this just sounds like a fun time.
Vote for Beto for the schadenfreude.
Beto is fucking BEHIND!!! Get out there and VOTE!!!
Last I checked, Beto is behind by like 4%. That is already huge for a Democrat in Texas by my understanding, and that is only polling âlikelyâ voters, which literally never includes young people. If people our age turn up to vote, it would definitely swing the election massively towards Beto.Â
not voting isnât refusing to play the game. Youâre in this country, youâre subject to the game whether you like it or not. The only way not to play is to leave, and the vast majority of us donât have that option.
Not voting is playing the game but saying âpassâ every time your turn comes up and then wondering why you lost.
Making young people not vote is actually a tactic used in politics to keep the satus quo. The young vote is always the one for change, so dissuading them from voting at all is actually a political tactic used by the people in charge to keep themselves there.
Iâm Erin, my family needs at least $10 to eat this week and $15 for cab fare. I need money for groceries as we have no food to eat. Thanks to yâall we have done so much and Iâm sorry to ask for this but we need help. I got turned down for disability and my caseworker helped me apply for SSI which I am likely to get. I am just waiting to hear back on it and that takes some time. If you want to donate, be it 1 cent or 5 cent, no amount is too small, it would be greatly appreciatedand go towards food, necessities, or bills. I will repay anyone who donates in any way. We are in bad debt which is where most of our money goes currently and to basic bills. Reblogs are as helpful as donations. Nobody has to donate if they donât want to or canât, times are hard on everyone. No one should feel guilty. I love yâall. Please donât send hate, I will block you.
Bob Marshall has been running anti-trans TV ads against her and sending out transphobic mailers (content warning: misgendering, transphobia.)
I know Danica Roem winning is a long shot but it would mean a great deal to me if she even came remotely close, as a bi/trans Virginian whoâs dealt with Bob Marshallâs homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic shit for years.
So please, if youâre in Virginia (whether youâre in Bob Marshallâs district or not)Â vote in the 2017 state election.Â
Youâre the greatest OP!
Also:
Sheâs a seasoned investigative journalist for the local newspaper, whoâs spent the last decade on the beat getting to know the problems of the district shes running for. Danica Roem is the most uniquely qualified person for Bob Marshallâs legislative seat because she knows, almost academically, exactly whatâs wrong and how to fix it for the district.Â
During the last nine months, Sheâs focused her campaign on local issues: -fixing Route 28 by replacing traffic lights with overpasses throughout Centreville and replacing the traffic light at Orchard Bridge Drive with a flyover in Yorkshire; -bringing high-paying jobs to Innovation Park by finding a cost-effective way to extend the VRE westward from Broad Run to Gainesville with a stop at Innovation to make the area more marketable; -raising teacher pay in Prince William County and Manassas Park so itâs not the lowest in Northern Virginia; -expanding Medicaid to 3,700 uninsured residents of the 13th District who earn up to 138 percent of the federal poverty line; and -making Virginia a more inclusive commonwealth, so welcome everyone no matter what they look like, where they come from, how they worship or who they love.
She was also born in the district, Bob Marshall is from maryland and made his way down to virginia to set up his demented operation.
But please please please if you are in manassas park or prince william county in Virginia do not forget to vote on November 7th, and bring a valid photo ID!
PS: sheâs also in a metal band called Cab Ride Home
