Like. I’m a firm believer that porn online shouldn’t be within kids reach (those “are you 18” checkboxes for life) but. Like. Ok first of all, just ban cp? It’s not hard? Cp is what got you into this mess just ban it. Second of all, you could increase the age of sign-up from 13 to 18. Third of all, you could do what deviantart does and just. Require birthdays at sign-up. If your blog is flagged as nsfw, you can’t interact with minors. You want to follow an nsfw blog? Prove you’re an adult. You’re an adult but don’t want to see nsfw content? Safe search (that actually works).

It’s not hard to make a functioning website, but staff doesn’t seem to want to do that.

  1. Soup.io – well-known alternative to Tumblr. Reblogging, post types, themes, collab blogs, dashboard, artsy, great community already there. Soup can auto-import everything you’ve posted on Tumblr.
  2. TypePad – Includes reblogging. Dashboard and post types similar to Tumblr.
  3. Jux – Artful posts, beautiful blogging experience

Reblogging cause one day it just may be neccessary.

It became necessary

Gonna check out soup.io.

Gonna check these out..

Also gonna check out soup.io as well as the others

Protesting Tumblr

I just got a dm from my friend and body positivity advocate @barbellbro-baggins-blr . He has used his blog to document his own body acceptance journey, and has inspired so many people to do the same. He inspired me when I first joined like 4 years ago. He just gave me his email and Facebook url so we can keep in touch in case his blog is deleted.

I only recently found people on this site who post about chronic pain, something I’ve been relatively recently diagnosed with, only for the tag to be wiped from the tag search option and tons of blogs and posts gone. Many in the disabled and chronically ill community feel that Tumblr is attacking their (our) place to exist as a community @staff .

Countless artists and writers are finding their posts and blogs flagged or deleted – even completely sfw content – and appealing flagged posts has brought little to no resolution. Fandom creators are finding the same.

I know one user who is dying – her organs are literally failing and she uses Tumblr to desperately try to bring in some income, since she can’t afford her prescribed medicine even with generic, and all the coupons and other things you can get online to take off $20. I have no doubt many like her are in similar situations and have had their posts deleted, cutting off avenues for income.

Anti-nazi posts have been deleted and flagged, while i can search for neonazis, their recruitment posts, and their hate speech that clearly violates tumblr’s new user rules, with disturbing ease.

@staff has made a lot of blunders with their updates to “improve” user experience. But this one is quite possibly the worst. It feels quite intentional regardless of what the CEO claims.

This camel’s back has broken. This is unacceptable. It’s wrong. And it reveals a disturbing trend about censorship. Not to mention censorship without ethics, and social media that has no regard for its users. But they need us.

I’m not sure what we should do. Past boycotts have not done much to sway corporate. Especially from relatively small blogs. But maybe if we can get some big blogs too it’ll do something. But one day of inactivity won’t even make them blink.

I’m considering saving the posts in my queues, and deleting my queues entirely, deleting the app from my phone and not using Tumblr at all for the next couple weeks. Anyone with me?

You’re fucking ridiculous if you think tumblr’s porn/nudity ban actually has to do with child pornography. Literally every other site can effectively moderate this issue and tumblr has been actively closing in further on their anti-NSFW move. Many sex workers and NSFW artists were removed starting last month after the iOS app was removed from the App Store. Look at FOSTA/SESTA, look at the moves throughout the year to push sex workers and NSFW artists away, look at the way Patreon, Paypal, Craigslist, credit card companies, etc. have over-policed this issue and forced sex workers away. This is all so obvious.

Also, explicitly banning and calling out “female-presenting nipples” – note there’s an exception if it’s after giving birth or during breastfeeding because OBVIOUSLY the only way breasts and nipples are okay is when you’re fulfilling your goddamn job of being an incubator and not just posting nipples wilfully or for (gasp) money. Because obviously, when we’re talking about the banning of child pornopraphy we must target “female-presenting nipples” and let everyone know that those are the real problem. Nipples are only okay when they’re “male-presenting” and in the proximity of a newborn that is confirmed yours.

Like c’mon… FOSTA/SESTA has been presented under the guise of fighting human trafficking just like these moves are no different. If they wanted to go after these very real issues then they would and they definitely wouldn’t be (dangerously) conflating the issues. Also why can I still look up violent pro-Nazi, antisemitic imagery but not a goddamn nipple??

BTW read into how Apple has been forcefully pushing for this move & how easily they can go after other NSFW-content websites and force them to comply.

Fr tho the ne0nazis are still rampant despite tumblr’s @staff claims about their “new policy” on posts encouraging violence or harassment of people due to race/ethnicity/religion/gender/sexual orientation/disability/etc. In fact they’ve shown they themselves will discriminate against the chronically ill and disabled community, by flagging posts and banning users who post in the “chronic pain” tag and removing chronic pain from the tag search altogether.

Go home, Tumblr, you’re drunk.

Ok so I FINALLY finished going through ALL my posts (because they don’t actually NOTIFY you to let you know which posts have been flagged… yay…)

Here are some of my favorites out of all my flagged posts:

Tumblr hates sad girls, GIRLS SHOULD ALWAYS BE SMILING!!!!

Tumblr hates angst.

Tumblr hates crossovers.

Tumblr hates Christmas presents.

Tumblr hates women defeating men in hand to hand combat.

@staff and this is one of the plethora of examples of why your censorship is bullshit
