[Image: A tweet from @akatookey, which reads: “funzies tip for my friends with medical debt; when collectors hound you, demand an itemized invoice.

If they don’t give you one, you have grounds to contest the debt.
If they do give you one, someone violated HIPAA and you can contest the debt.“
]

Now here is some ding-danged useful information! Another user pointed out that over half of small debt collectors lack this information because they buy their debts in bulk for cheap and in return get really disorganized paperwork. They encourage folks to look up “debt validation letter” online to get more information on this.

TIL after a millionaire gave everyone in a Florida neighborhood free college scholarships and free daycare, crime rate was cut in half and high school graduation rate increased from 25% to 100%.

Wow jeeze I sure do wonder what would happen if money didn’t matter and every body else didn’t have to wait for some rich fucker to strut down from their mountain of money to gift us a pebble from it.

What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless

FOOD

  • Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
  • grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
  • different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
  • some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit

SHELTER

  • Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
  • sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
  • Some churches offer short term residence
  • Find your nearest homeless shelter
  • Look for places that are open to the public
  • A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry

  • Local beaches, go for a quick swim

The future is here today: you can’t play Bach on Youtube because Sony says they own his compositions

James Rhodes, a pianist, performed a Bach composition for his Youtube channel, but it didn’t stay up – Youtube’s Content ID system pulled it down and accused him of copyright infringement
because Sony Music Global had claimed that they owned 47 seconds’ worth
of his personal performance of a song whose composer has been dead for
300 years.

This is a glimpse of the near future. In one week, the European Parliament will vote on a proposal to force all online services to implement Content ID-style censorship, but not just for videos – for audio, text, stills, code, everything.

Just last week, German music professor Ulrich Kaiser posted his research
on automated censorship of classical music, in which he found that it
was nearly impossible to post anything by composers like Bartok,
Schubert, Puccini and Wagner, because companies large and small have
fraudulently laid claim to their whole catalogs.

Europeans have one week to contact their MEPs to head off this catastrophe.

Stop what you’re doing and contact two friends in the EU right now and send them to Save Your Internet – before it’s too late.

WHAT

NO

FUCK THIS

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

Does anyone know how or if Americans can help?

I think it could potentially do more harm than good if Americans try to contact the MEPs – but do spread awareness about this issue!

All hope is not gone (yet), even though it certainly seems like it. There are several alternatives to the copyright reform MEPs will choose from Wednesday next week. What fellow Europeans need to do right now is to

Call your MEP and urge them to choose one of the options that avoids upload filters.

WARNING!!!!

People, please be careful. There are also people tracking children and people and putting bids on them based on their profile pictures on whatsapp, tracking and kidnapping them. Especially young children, so please be cautious, especially parents who have their children as their profile pictures.

Please pass this on to everyone so that they are aware of the danger. I don’t how it is all around the world but I know it can’t just be here so please please spread the word. Thank you.

oh my god

I HAVE BEEN GETTING THIS TEXT REGULARLY FOR WEEKS

HOLY SHIT THANK GOD I DIDN’T

I’ve gotten a few of these. Never ever click a link from an unknown number!!!

never click a link from an unknown number, but this link is not connected to sex trafficking. i’m all for boosting smart technology uses & being cautious about links & messages like this, but this is 100% false information that started getting spread after a viral tweet. the irl app itself is very sketchy, but opening this link won’t do anything to your phone aside from bring you to download the irl app.

So I officially need to take a short break from animating the amv. I’ve been pushing it out of excitement and now I get a sharp pain if I move my thumb a certain way, and generally achy tendon stuff in my wrist and forearm. Gotta let em heal
