Despite how much I hate this hellsite, I don’t want it to die. Where else can I shout into the void about my hyperfixations where only a select couple people know me irl??? Where else can I have interactive organized chaos like this? Will meme manufacturing be limited to Reddit? The demons here are familiar to me, I know how to deal with them
What about when Nazis intimidate or oppress me for walking while Jewish? That’s just free speech, right?
This was introduced by Daniel Donovan (R-NY). If the name sounds familiar, its because he’s the attorney who failed to indict Eric Garner’s murderer. It’s very clear where his loyalties lie.

I’m sure we can all very civily share our concerns with the esteemed congressman.
[ID: a series of tweets. from Lirael Lowenstein – 1: “Unmasking Antifa Act introduced to house of congress. You could get a maximum of 15 years in prison just for wearing a mask at a protest. 2: Notably, there is not even evidence that said bill is intended to be applied neutrally. If you follow the link, its authors refer to it as the “Unmasking Antifa Act of 2018.” (link here.) 3: So under this bill, if you “intimidate” or “oppress” (talk about vague terms) a nazi organizer at a rally, while wearing anything that could be construed as a disguise or mask, it would be a federal crime for which you could get up to 15 years in prison.
from Heather – 1: If any journalist who covers protests thinks this wouldn’t affect them personally because they’ve never assaulted anyone, I’d like to introduce you to the Ferguson police who dumped me out of my wheelchair & charged me for “assault on an officer” for filming on a public sidewalk. 2: If any journalist thinks this wouldn’t affect them personally because they don’t engage in vandalism, I’d like to introduce you to the St Louis police who kettle random groups of protesters, journalists, & bystanders three hours after minor vandalism several blocks away. end image description.]
more sources, all dated today; july 10th, 2018: xx, xx, xx
so what? why should i care about this?
the bill is vague, for one thing. “intimidate” and “oppress” are very unclear descriptors, meaning people could be put in jail for upwards of 15 years just for being at a protest wearing a mask.
as @sylviahook pointed out (and thank you for saying this in your own reblog): this also affects disabled people who need to wear filtration masks in public for any reason
(environmental allergens including pollen and artificial scents, asthma due to pollution, compromised immunity, etc.).
who is Daniel Donovan?
he was the attorney who was on Eric Garner’s murder case.
eric garner was a black man who was killed by a police officer in a choke hold. his last words were “i can’t breathe,” which became a tagline for a series of protests. (source 1, source 2)
he is currently sponsoring the unmasking antifa act. (source 1, source 2)

Good info, is there anything that average people with limited resources/energy can do to prevent this bill from being passed?
Apparently it’s never even really been “you get more conservative as you get older” it’s “if you’re wealthy enough to live to be that old, you’re probly conservative (and the leftist nonwealthy people are less likely to live that long).
katniss in book 3: my childrens playground is built on dead bodies and bones, i never wanted children but peeta convinced me, i will never heal from what happened to me. the end
me reading that shit at 15:
A lot of people in the notes are like “book 3 was a whole mess, they completely flipped the narrative from a powerful female lead to a weaker one to show that war is bad”. And like. Yes, its not as cohesive and katniss and other characters change. But I personally liked that they changed. It turns out that traumatic events are actually traumatizing, and have lasting impact on people that can derail their lives especially if left with insufficient treatment. A lot of books/movies have characters going through really traumatic events and then coming out changed but not deeply emotionally and mentally scarred (at least not in a way that shows itself in everyday situations, rather than as plot-devices when convenient).
Her vote to bring back the Games I think was partly cuz she was bitter and it was all very fresh, but mostly cuz she knew Coin. She knew that Coin was power-hungry and likely to become more of a dictator than she was. She knew that Coin wanted to bring the Games back, and that it would happen eventually. She just didn’t wait for it to happen. I do wonder if she planned to assassinate Coin beforehand or if it was completely spontaneous.
I do think that the whole having kids thing was bad cuz of her previous statements that she didn’t want kids. Cuz the whole compulsory offspring thing just needs to die.
The epilogue wasn’t so much “I will never heal” but more “these are still things I struggle with and i always will, but theres hope in the future for this world and I have healthy coping skills”. Which is actually pretty reasonable. With PTSD you can treat it and get better and heal, but you don’t really go back to how you were before, and people often struggle with symptoms to varying degrees indefinitely. And I felt thats more what katniss was saying? Like “this won’t ever go away fully and there are bad days and I won’t ever forgive them, but I’m hopeful, and there are good days too now”
People with ADHD tend to have time blindness.. Which means we dont tend to have a good grasp at how long things take.
Now this really fucks us up cause we end up being unable to start doing things cause we think it’ll take a long time only for it to take a very short time when we actually do it.
Now obviously if someone says ten minutes, we know what it means numerically. But what we don’t easily grasp is what can be done in those ten minutes.
My friends are coming over in ten minutes? I can easily clean up the house and change before then…… Wait, theyre already here? How’s that possible?!
Op I like you cuz you make me feel less shitty about my shortcomings. It’s not just me being shitty! Amazing! It’s a legit thing! Which I still need to deal with and stuff but at least it’s like, not just cuz I’m a terrible person!
A lot of what we are made to believe are our shortcomings are caused by factors outside of our control. We can learn to control them to a point but learning to recognize them as not completely our fault is incredibly freeing.
I literally did not believe this was a real thing until I just tried it.
Holy cow.
I have spent the last two weeks increasingly irritated with (what has seemed to me) the dramatically alarmist attitude about the shit that’s going down with tumblr but….damn.
Like, I still don’t think it’s over. I still don’t think this is the end. But that’s a far larger speed bump that I anticipated. Tumblr, what the fuck.
“Dick pic” is also gone. “Pictures of dicks” gets you Dick Grayson.
“Fuck” and “fuck off” will get blogs with those word in the description, but no posts.
Several slurs are gone – fag, slut, whore; probably others. “Dyke” is still in, though, as well as “fag hag.” (I’m aware that whether or not those are slurs depends on the community.)
This is a sign of a platform that Does Not Care about its users. Not because they’re blocking terms they’ve decided are offensive or connected with illegal activity – because they won’t tell you that some terms can’t be searched, won’t tell you why the posts have been removed from search, won’t let you know whether or how your blog will be affected.
Chronic pain, as mentioned, is gone. “Pain” gets this result:
Followed by normal search results. (Note: 7 Cups of Tea, at least, is a commercial site; the “trained active listeners” are random users who’ve completed a few questionnaires.)
@thebibliosphere Joy joy joy joy joy…. If your wondering about a sudden slow down on your traffic
My traffic hasn’t slowed down because I use my own tag for my chronic health stuff, though a couple of my posts about chronic pain are gone.
Other than that my nsfw stuff is still intact. This purge has been random as all hell.
The fact that it’s been over a week and they haven’t even addressed the many many unfairly deactivated blogs is pissing me right off.
I highly doubt at this point that I’m getting my blog back at all. Despite the fact that my only crime was to write a lot about having chronic pain and what it was like to live like that
Also of fucking course one of the blocked tags is the one discussing their screw up
I’m feeling very bitter at the moment
If it’s anything like the mass censorship LJ started employing, then I very much doubt this is even the tip of the iceberg, or that they’ll make it a priority to restore unfairly banned blogs.
Meanwhile I continue to block upwards of 50 pornbot blogs a week from my follower list, and I can’t turn my inbox back on because it winds up with a bunch of neo-nazis sending me suicide bait.
But sure. Deleting my posts about being disabled is helping. Thanks Tumblr.
i don’t understand what’s being said. you can type ‘chronic pain’ in the search box and get results. is there some other thing that’s being blocked? i know absolutely none of my posts are showing up in tags now, even though my blog is not set to nsfw.
Some are showing and some are not, several of my posts are just gone. I spent hours going through my archive manually looking for them and I knew were to look cause I keep track of my chronic illness posts for reference purposes.
Several of my friends who blog about their chronic illnesses and conditions have had their blogs straight up deleted. The reason they were given was for talking about chronic pain.
The reason for this is unclear, but there’s some thoughts that it might be because the word “chronic” used to be/is slang for weed and they’re somehow trying to crack down on drug use or something. Heck only knows though. All I know is tumblr used to have one of the best spoonie/chronic health issue communities online and a lot of folk are either gone or their posts are.
I might believe that @thebibliosphere about the “chronic” tag, but the tags “cocaine”, “meth”, and “weed” all still work so its not a drug issue
Welp. There goes that theory.
Maybe they just are ableist asswipes who wanna shut down visibility and communities for chronic illnesses/pain. Like literally there is no logical reason to take down posts about people’s personal experiences with their own damn health issues???
HAGIBFIAFAFDB IM WHEEZING ON MY BED THIS IS THE FUNNIEST THING IVE SEEN IN YEARS
this is a very funny post and it’s very true but i’m freaking out over finally finding another human being who says the word bikkies. this has been the bane of my existence since i was a child
