How about we stop having people justify birth control period??? It’s NAME ALONE is justification.
I use it for medical reasons but it’s pretty damn awesome that it prevents pregnancy as well and I shouldn’t have to tell anyone why.
And on that note, can non-heterosexual people stop saying shit like “lol I’m so glad I don’t have to wear condoms/use birth control/prevent pregnancy since I’m GAY haha” because it’s so damn inSENSITIVE like medication can have more than one benefit or use !!
Another issue with the statement mentioned above, yeah, cisnormative gay people may say this. But there’s also gay transwomen and transmen who may need to use birth control as a pregnancy preventative. And being gay doesn’t prevent you from having a trans partner.
I do think that it’s still important to educate people on the many uses of the pill. Not as the main justification for making it available, but because many people seem to think that there is only one use, and may not know that they even have a serious condition because it likely means they likely don’t know of the many common (and rarer) ailments that can be treated with the pill to begin with. And thus, wouldn’t know symptoms to watch out for.
