if cis women can bulk up and wear baggy pants and crop their hair short and go without makeup or shaving their pits/legs/anywhere else, co-opt traditionally ‘masculine’ behaviors, and still be viewed as women–even praised for how very feminist they are in doing so–then so can trans women. that’s it. end of.
and if cis men who love fashion and florals and pink, and wear dresses and makeup and love to bake, can be comfortable in their masculinity and praised as revolutionary for doing so, then–you guessed it–so can trans men. that’s it. end of.
not one single person on earth has any right to dictate how anyone else pilots their respective flesh suits. not one single person on earth has any right to claim someone is ‘faking’ their gender or performing a gender incorrectly when gender is arbitrary as hell as-is.
Okay so I just got off the phone with them. I talked to a trans girl named Aurora & she was super helpful! She gave me a few doctors to talk to & encouraged me to seek therapy instead of just rushing to get my pills. She literally found a trans friendly therapist in my town & I would definitely recommend giving them a call!
i think anne of green gables needs to become popular again. the book and the netflix show are both really good. they have a lot to teach when it comes to feminism, racism, and being lgbt+. not only was it way ahead of its time, its still very relevant today. in this essay, i will
^^^
The show is darker but i think it’s more realistic. Especially for why Anne is the way she is in some ways. And the show goes into Matthew and Marilla’s pasts and personal growth more. Which I love. Plus gay goodness

you know that dumbass Forbes article advocating for Amazon stores to replace public libraries? It was taken down cause the author got dragged so hard by like everyone who has ever entered a library in their life & now Forbes released a statement basically calling the author of the original op-ed “deeply misinformed” lmao
You know, mabes we socialist types should proactively do something to help our local libraries before capitalists find ways of shutting them down for good. Some kind of mass fundraiser or something, I don’t know what. But they seem like the last holdout for people who believe that everyone has a right to resources, no questions asked.
For many people, the library is the one place they can access the internet, which may in turn be the only way they can apply for jobs or get schoolwork done.
Other technology is also available for use at a library, such as a copier or a printer (ours even has a 3D printer open to the public).
The library is a safe place to go if it’s raining or really cold outside.
Children are enabled to read more books than their allowance could ever possibly afford, and for kids from lower-income backgrounds, it might be their only access to books at all.
Lots of libraries provide classes that are needed in their community, whether it’s ESL or literacy or parenting or what have you. Free of charge.
You can even borrow movies or seasons of TV shows instead of springing for Netflix.
And there is no shame whatsoever in visiting one. There is no social stigma attached to the library, it’s for everyone, period.
Any librarians with ideas for how we could help keep them going?
Support the Library Defense Network! They’re a leftist org made up of library workers and they organize communities to prevent public library closures.
Hey if you’re schizophrenic/psychotic I just want you to know that you’re a wonderful person and that you deserve so much better than the demonization, marginalization and stigmatization you face in this society.
Please consider reblogging this/other positivity posts for schizophrenic/psychotic people every once in a while. If you have more than 100 followers, odds are that a couple of them experiences psychosis and that they rarely see positivity posts for people with their symptoms.
I see bigotry and racism in white people if white people are bigots and racists. To ignore them would only serve to perpetuate negative and harmful behavior. Tbqh, I’m proud to be all three of my ethnicities and also proud to be an American. I was lucky enough to be raised in an environment where I could embrace and love each part of my heritage. I’m not white or even remotely white-passing by any definition, and you clearly don’t know anything about the other mods either. I joined this blog to help other (Japanese) diaspora who might not be as fortunate to grow up similarly to the way I did in connection with my culture(s) and might be less confident in their identity or who are the victims of racism themselves and to help them find their voice. It’s not wrong to point out inappropriate or disrespectful behavior that causes harm to us. You seem to be completely misunderstanding the purpose of this blog, which, as has been said MANY times before, is not to advocate for segregation, but rather for something closer to respect, acknowledgement and empowerment.
Anon, it seems to me, has also misunderstood a great many other things because they are making a great many erroneous assumptions.
Firstly, calling out racism and racist white people doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate all aspects of our heritage. There’s no contradiction in that.
Secondly, we’re not all mixed white/ American, and though there are many of us (including myself) who are mixed (and seriously, what’s with the assumption that mixed = white + Japanese?), there are also “full” Japanese folks here. I think it’s true that this blog gives greater validity to the opinions and feelings of “diaspora” Japanese than, say, blogs that cater only to the “native” Japanese experience, but it’s not like “native” Japanese folks all think the same way either. I know a few 帰国子女 who experience racism when they live in Western, white-dominated countries and take those experiences and opinions back with them to Japan. The experiences of a mixed person in Japan, a mixed person outside of Japan, a “full” person in Japan, a “full” person outside of Japan are all unique and can differ heavily based on the individual experience.
Finally, anon does not seem to understand the experience that comes with others deciding what your identity entitles you to. It’s hard to “celebrate both parts of your identity” when there are people who exclude you, who actively discriminate against you and shame you if you don’t assimilate with white society. If you are mixed or diaspora, it can even be harder to embrace both parts of your heritage because there is a significant portion of “native” Japanese to whom excluding those they see as “non-Japanese” seems very important to their own Japanese identity. From what I can see, this blog is partially dedicated to helping people deal with those experiences.
In short, anon, you don’t seem to know anything about us and our experiences. That makes your opinion pretty irrelevant.
Our school used to ask children who were late questions about maths, but those that they can’t answer yet. And then they made kids write down that they don’t know math. My 11yo classmate (who was always great at math) was crying after this.
Oh god, my elementary school was hell.
I remember this one music teacher who, for some reason, REALLY fucking hated autistic kids. I would know, because everyone in my weird therapy group was targeted while everyone else was ignored.
I saw her physically drag a kid out and threaten to get him suspended because he was to scared to dance solo in front of his peers.
There was also “lunch detention,” and they didn’t fuck around with that. They didn’t isolate the students like that, they fucking shoved them in a separate room and forbade them from sitting together or talking. They slowly brought in several teachers and eventually the principal, and they all, one by one, told us that we were horrible, reprehensible people who would never be successful.
And you wanna know HOW you got lunch detention? Not finishing your work on time, even if it was a one-time thing.
State sanctioned child abuse
‘Child abuse’
Y’all are insane.
It may not be child abuse but honestly, some of this shit is fucking insane and harmful to the students than it is helpful.
I mean.
It is abuse.
Emotional Abuse is a thing
Also public shaming (in terms of shaming children in front of their peers for not doing something perfectly or showing up on time)
CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION STATUS. You can usually do it at the website of your local secretary of state, or at Vote.org.
Anyone who follows me from Georgia? If not, pass it on.
sigh.. Actually, let me just add, THIS BULLSHIT RIGHT HERE, THIS IS WHY YOUR VOTE MATTERS. You think they’d be so hot to take away your rights if it didn’t?
If you can register to vote by mail DO SO!!! Not only does it give you more time to research your ballot options, it provides a paper trail, so you can PROVE how you voted, no matter how the Russian hackers massage the electronic numbers.
